Default CD-key invalid?

So I tried to change my password for Guild Wars, but it directed me to make a PlayNC account.

I have all the chaps & eotn, but my Factions & Proph keys are in their boxes packed up with my college stuff 3,000 miles away. I have the NF key, so I figured that'd work.

When it asks you for the key, I plug it in, and it says, "Invalid Key".

Any help on this?

if your trying to change you gw password, cd-keys are of no use to you. you have to log into your plaync account to do so. if you dont remember your user name or pw which nobody does, you have to contact play nc support which is like pulling freaking teeth...gl

You probably need the key you used to create the account. All the keys are probably associated with your account, but the first key is the one that identifies the account.

This is what I mean - so if I'm attempting to make a PlayNC account, it'd probably be linked to the original key?

That's my guess. Anyone back home that you can ask to dig?

Yep. You could ask your parents or brother/sister to ask you to mail you back the first key which should activate your PlayNC account on the website.

Good luck changing your password.

if you have ever entered the gw online store then a plaync account was automatically created for you.

Try asking some of your friends or someone to try digging through your stuff and trying to find all your guild wars stuff.

You have to have your original CD key.

I seem to recall that there is an option to make your PlayNC account the same as you GW account, or base it off of it using the GW login name, or something like that.
I know that I made a PlayNC account before without entering any keys.

If you log in to the game and go to "Manage Keys" or whatever that option is, do you have the ability to actually see the CD key?

Just a thought.

I lost my prophecies keys a long time ago. I needed to get my password changed recently. I logged on to my old plaync account which never had keys assigned to it, contacted support giving them the keys I have for Factions (1 key) & NF (2 keys; one was for a friends account & I made that clear to them as I didn't know which key was mine) & copies of the confirmation e-mails for EotN & character slots & they connected my GW account to my playNC account no problem. They were even kind enough to also link my second account for which I had minimal info so I can now change the password for both of them very easily.

All in all PlayNC support weren't bad at all to deal with, despite what many may say. If you can give them all the info you have they'll make a decision based on if it is enough.

Argh.

Looks like I won't be able to check it 'til Sep1st then.

Oh well. I may contact PlayNC with my SOB story and hope they bite.

Yeah, that password reset feature is retarded. I don't know how many times I have attempted to create a playNC account, only to have it not save correctly, or something.

That is a feature I think they should make do-able in the game console, and not externally linked to playNC.

Just my opinion.

If you're just trying to create an ncsoft account, you shouldn't need the key. I don't know where any of mine are, but I've made accounts with no problem at all.

If you bought something from the online store, you made a PlayNC account then. Like [email protected]. Only put the xxxxx part as username. Pass should still be the same.

Actually, I remembered mine because I had to go through this approximate "Four to Five Day Process" of getting a new password.

Yes, all password changes (unless you're lucky enough not to sign up for the GW store back long ago) must be done through the NC account. Two of my older accounts can still change the password straight off the options. It's so rovery.
